Terms for Writers, Editors, and Volunteers

Scope and Acceptance

These Terms govern your participation with HerFaithVillage.com Ministries (the “Ministry”) as a writer, editor, managing editor, channel host, or other volunteer contributor (collectively, “Volunteers”) for the Ministry’s websites, services, and related platforms (collectively, the “Site”), including herfaithvillage.com.

By applying for a volunteer role, submitting or editing Content, or otherwise participating on the Site, you confirm that you have read, understand, and agree to be bound by these Terms, as well as the Site’s Statement of Faith, House Rules, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Site Policies”), which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or volunteer.

Updates to Terms

The Ministry may revise these Terms prospectively by posting an updated version on the Site. You agree that notice of changes may be provided by posting. Your continued participation after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Eligibility and Legal Capacity

The Site is intended for adults. By volunteering or using the Site, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement and that any registration or application information you provide is accurate, current, and complete. The Ministry may deny access, suspend, or terminate participation if information is inaccurate or incomplete.

Definitions

“Content” includes, without limitation, text, articles, editorials, comments, images, audio, video, links, downloads/uploads, and any other material submitted for publication or permitted use on the Site or the Ministry’s social media channels.

“Writer” includes contributing writers, columnists, guest writers, and hosts who submit original or curated written Content.

“Editor” includes volunteer editors and managing editors who review, edit, curate, and/or oversee Content for publication.

“Managing Editor” includes channel or section editors responsible for coordinating editorial calendars, reviewing submissions, and communicating with writers (as applicable).

Role Expectations

Role expectations may vary by channel, assignment, and season of ministry. The Ministry may set or adjust expectations at its discretion.

Unless otherwise communicated for your role, common expectations may include:

Submitting original Content on a consistent schedule (for some roles, up to four (4) original articles or editorials per month).

Responding to editorial communication and requests for revisions in a timely manner.

Reviewing, scanning, and correcting submissions for grammar, clarity, omissions, and style (for editor roles).

Checking for factual and scriptural accuracy and flagging concerns to the Ministry’s leadership/editorial lead.

Helping maintain a thriving community; volunteer accounts may be considered inactive after two (2) months without participation.

Content Standards and Prohibited Conduct

All Volunteers agree to submit and/or edit Content consistent with the Site Policies and the Ministry’s mission and beliefs.

You agree not to post, upload, transmit, or link to Content that is unlawful, threatening, harmful, abusive, harassing, pornographic or includes nudity, defamatory, hateful, or otherwise inappropriate for a Christian women’s community. The Ministry may remove Content at any time, for any reason, in its sole discretion.

You are responsible for ensuring Content you submit is original or properly licensed, and that you have secured any necessary permissions for text, photographs, graphics, audio, video, or other media. Plagiarism complaints may result in removal of Content and termination of volunteer privileges.

Submissions, Editing, and Publication

Submission of Content does not guarantee publication. The Ministry’s editorial leadership has sole discretion to accept, reject, edit, modify, format, or place Content anywhere on the Site, and may do so without prior notice.

The Ministry may publish Content for as long as it deems appropriate. The Ministry is not responsible for loss of submitted materials.

If a factual error is substantiated, the author will generally be given an opportunity to correct it. If corrections are not made promptly, the Ministry may remove the Content.

Intellectual Property, License, and Re-Use

You retain ownership of your original Content, subject to the license granted below.

By submitting or uploading Content, you grant HerFaithVillage.com Ministries a royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, perform, publish, translate, modify, adapt, create derivative works from, and otherwise exploit the Content in any media now known or later developed, including for newsletters and promotional purposes, without compensation. You waive any moral rights to the extent permitted by law.

Unless the Ministry agrees otherwise in writing, if you republish substantially the same Content elsewhere after it first appears on the Site, you agree to wait at least seven (7) days after initial publication and to include a clear credit line that the Content first appeared on herfaithvillage.com.

Use of Name, Likeness, and Promotional Rights

You grant the Ministry permission to use your name, biography, profile information, and likeness (including photos you provide) on the Site and in Ministry-related materials that pertain to your volunteer participation.

You may identify yourself as a volunteer contributor or editor for herfaithvillage.com for personal promotional purposes. You may link to your published pieces. You may not use the Ministry’s trademarks, designs, images, or other proprietary materials beyond what is necessary to identify your role, and you may not deep-link to restricted sections or republish Site designs or content without prior written permission.

Confidentiality and Site Materials

Non-public materials shared with you for editorial review (including drafts, private correspondence, and internal guidance) are for volunteer purposes only and may not be shared, copied, compiled, archived, redistributed, retransmitted, or publicized without prior written permission from the Ministry. Do not remove or alter proprietary notices.

Equipment and Expenses

You are responsible for providing, at your own cost, any equipment and services needed to participate (including computer, software, phone, and internet access). The Ministry does not reimburse these costs unless expressly agreed in writing.

No Compensation

All volunteer roles are unpaid. Volunteers receive no monetary, compensatory, or in-kind compensation for contributing, promoting, submitting, donating, writing, hosting, or editing Content, unless the Ministry expressly agrees otherwise in a written, signed agreement.

Denial, Suspension, Termination, and Reassignment

The Ministry may deny any application, suspend or terminate any Volunteer role, or reassign Volunteers to different channels or responsibilities, with or without notice, for any reason in its sole discretion.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HerFaithVillage.com Ministries and its directors, officers, volunteers, agents, and affiliates from any claims, damages, costs, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your Content, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.

Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

YOUR USE OF THE SITE AND PARTICIPATION AS A VOLUNTEER ARE AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE SITE AND ALL MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HERFAITHVILLAGE.COM MINISTRIES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE OR PARTICIPATION AS A VOLUNTEER, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.
